Apple acquired two new patents recently — one that patents a “touch and hover” display, similar to the technology found in Samsung products like the Galaxy Note 2, and one that patents a heart rate monitor to read your EKG data.
The hover display would let you interact with your Apple device without actually touching the screen. Just hold your finger or stylus over a desired app, and the app will open as though you had pressed down on the screen.
It could be tough for an iPhone or iPad to discern whether you want to open an app — or if you accidentally waved your finger above the screen. But developers can engineer the interface to read your intentions by sensing how long you’re hovering over a certain spot and how far away your finger is from the screen.
The second patent also focuses on deciphering information. The heart rate monitor can read your EKG data at a level so intricate that it can identify people based on minute differences in heartbeats.
Other than these smart patents Apple was Granted a Patent for a Superior GoPro-like Camera System. The patent notes that the new camera system could be secured to various objects, such as a bike helmet or scuba mask, or mounted to the handlebars of a motorcycle or the front of a surfboard. The new camera system also notes that an iPhone (smartphone) could be used under water to take pictures and record sounds in a water environment. Waterproofing is a given.
Some More patents Granted
Apple Granted a Patent for Advanced Flexible iPhones & Beyond
Additionally, flexible internal components may include flexible batteries such as batteries having rigid and flexible portions, batteries formed from multiple rigid portions joined in a flexible joint, and batteries formed from flexible battery layers.
Apple Patents An iPhone Drop Protection Mechanism That Changes Device Angle In Freefall
A system that can actually re-orient an iPhone during freefall, changing the angle of its eventual impact with the ground after first determining how best to shift it to make sure the fall does as little damage as possible. The patent also includes descriptions of other more advanced and fantastic scenarios, including ejection devices for cables, and even retractable air foils to control the angle of descent, like those Elon Musk is testing for his reusable rockets at Space X, but built into an iPhone.
Apple Granted a Patent for an Ambitious Lifestreaming Mobile App and Smart- Glasses
Apple’s newly granted patent covers their invention relating to online social media. More particularly, the present invention relates to collecting and enriching information. Apple’s acquired patent has at least two surprises covering a possible new device in the form of lifestreaming smart glasses and the use of Xen Hypervisor.
Apple Granted a Patent for an iPen that also Works with Paper
Apple has been granted a patent for their invention relating to an iPen or modern stylus that includes a position sensing device such as an accelerometer, a tip for writing, a transmitter for sending position data, a receiver and a computing device.
The stylus may be used for entering data into the computing device without actually touching the device nor requiring any specialized paper. Rather, the stylus is able to enter data into the computing device, corresponding to images or text drawn draw on any surface. Additionally, the stylus can enter the data from a distance, such as from across the room, to the computing device. This allows a user in one embodiment to keep the computing device stored, for example with a cellular phone, in his pocket and still be able to use the stylus to enter text or drawings into the device. This makes it easy, for example, in a classroom setting for a user to take handwritten notes and simultaneously create a digital version of those notes. Additionally, in another embodiment, the stylus allows for the user to write on a whiteboard mounted on a wall and simultaneously display what he has written on a computing device.
Apple Granted Patent for Possible Future Magic Mouse that Doubles as a Handheld Scanner
Apple has been granted a patent for their invention relating to methods and apparatuses that incorporate chromatic sensors in a mouse like Magic Mouse. The operation of the mouse, such as tracking resolution, may be customized based upon the properties of the surface upon which the mouse is operating. Other embodiments may include utilizing the mouse with the chromatic sensor as a scanner to display images on a housing of the mouse.
Apple continues to amaze us with new patents it files everyday and with every new technology it comes up in the market. The patents filed and granted to apple are on the basis of unique ideas it has incorporated and no doubt apple is master in bringing new ideas and transforming those ideas into gadgets, apps, technology . We hope we will see all these patents in some or the other form in the apple products in the near future.
Share your thoughts in the comments section and let us know what you think about these patents forming part of apple’s future gadgets.
