“We’re seeing reports that some users are not able to access YouTube in Turkey. There is no technical issue on our side and we’re looking into the situation,” a Google Inc spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
According to Reuters, the Turkish telecoms authority TIB confirmed today it has taken “administrative measure” against the Google-owned platform. A second screenshot posted by WebRazzi details the TIB’s decision on its website.
The move came just hours after a leaked recording published on YouTube purporting to show a conversation where Turkey’s foreign minister, spy chief and a top general appear to discuss scenarios which could lead to a Turkish attack against Jihadist militants in Syria.
